This book is about living between worlds. Belonging is not fixed place, but a movement - between cultures, languges and ways of being.
Through 31 photgraphic portraits, this book presents people who carry more than one story with them. Some have roots in Greenland, others elsewhere, and some in several places at once.
What unites them is the experience of being shaped by narrow narratives - and the insistence on being seen beyond categories, symbols and explanatations.
Shazia Khan (b. 1976, Denmark) is a visual artist and photographer whose work spans portraiture, documentary practice, and artistic photographeic series, often focusing on people living between cultures, histories, and identities. She has lived and worked across South America, Mexico, Greenland, Pakistan, and Europe, developing a long-term, research-based practice. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally, and has received multiple awards.
